John was born at Morwell Hospital on September 17, 1954. He went to Commercial Road Primary School then Morwell Technical School before moving to Melbourne to work as a technician at Tandy Electronics in 1973. Shortly after, he decided to enrol in a Radio Announcing course.
John’s radio career spanned more than 30 years at radio stations across the east coast of Australia, including 3WM, 2HD, 2KO, 3GL, 4GG, 3AK, 3MP and 3EE.
John was the voice for TV Station movie promotions on Channel 10, News and Current Affairs on Network 7, News Breaks and in-house promos for the Nine Network, ABC and SBS. John was also the voice behind Network 10’s highly successful “The Comedy Company” which broke all time ratings records.
John was the voice of countless station IDs for capital city and country radio stations across Australia.
In his early career he was the host of Newcastle NBN TV’s Friday night program ‘Mystery and Imagination Theatre’, introducing Horror Movies.
Later he was the Weather Man on SCN TV National News, live to air each weeknight throughout Regional Victoria and Southern New South Wales.
He also played Craig Peeters, a booth announcer on ABC Radio National’s ‘Don’t Get Off Ya Bike’, a political satire, broadcast live around the country on Saturday afternoons.

John did the voiceover for the above hilarious NANDO’S commercial which was played in cinemas around Australia.
John saying goodbye to my beautiful dog Alice-Dee on her final day in this world. This Coldplay song perfectly encapsulates the loss of two of my best friends.
More recently, John and I would regularly go for Saturday drives from Melbourne back to Morwell, through to Churchill then Boolara and back over the hills to Trafalgar just to appreciate the rural landscape of the Jeeralang Ranges and the profound memories we had of growing up in the Latrobe Valley.
