Dallas was a caring mother of three boys all just two years apart. As they grew and left home, she studied art first at Morwell Tech school then Gippsland Institute of Advanced Education. She became prolific in painting and sculpture, selling many items in local art shops. She particularly enjoyed painting roses.
She would happily spend days in the sunny back room of the house producing works like this. Her use of colour and brush strokes are a testament of her skill in oil painting.

The epitome of cute. Her attention to detail was amazing. I can image the look on her face when she pulled these out from the kiln.

Mum was passionate about dolls and figurines. She had a number of specialty shops in the Dandenong Ranges that sold these for her. Each one was unique just as was her creativity.

Mum’s work was in such demand that everything she produced was for sale – except this piece. The second I laid eyes on it I insisted she let me own it. With a smile she handed it to me and has proudly been in my possession and on display for over 30 years.

Rest in Peace Dallas, Mum, Grandma
We were always her young children even though we were all in our 60s, Mum had the same pride in our achievements and care for our disappointments. She was always supportive and understanding.
The last words she said to me were “give my love to Julian” – her grandson.
Two days later, the last words I said to Mum were “enjoy the journey.”
